August 2014
I talked with Steve a few months ago. He has permanently returned to this side of the Atlantic, and is back in the same
house that they left so many years ago... It was always "just another year or two" so they never sold. He is working his
way through a partial retirement, going to work a few days a week in Morristown.
February 2007
From time to time I have hears news of Steve from Brandt. Several years ago he and a co- worker went on their own, still in marine insurance, and still in Europe. Recently Steve committed himself to another five years in England.

Dear Bob:
Re: news. As I had told you I was moving to London which I did on February 1st. I am staying in a temporary flat in Mayfair on Hill Street which is okay until my family moves over. We decided to let Lauren finish her school term in Ridgewood and participate in her summer swimming program. She is a Junior Olympic swimmer and particularly enjoys her outdoor summer club season.
My wife, Lisa, and Lauren came here about a month ago and will return the week before Easter to continue the search for a flat. Lisa wants to live in London and although I would prefer the suburbs I have let discretion be the better part of valor and demurred on the matter since I will be at work and Lauren will be at school weekdays. Thus Lisa will be the real one living in London and access to the arts and theater are important to her.
During my family's recent trip here Lauren was accepted to the American School in the St., John's Wood section of London. Although it is an excellent school academically, like Friends, unfortunately, like most city schools, it has no real campus, just a series of buildings.
As for me, I have started my job as the Marine Chief Executive for Marsh. Inc. in Europe. We could not get the Europeans to agree on a leader so they sent an American over to get them to work together. Thirty-five years ago you probably would never have envisioned me in a diplomatic job but many things have changed since then.
I often think of Friends, my classmates and many other fond memories of our high school days (the unpleasant ones disappear with time). If anyone is traveling through London send me an e-mail I would be happy to greet any "mate" to this rainy, gray land.
Autumn 2000
For all the time that Jay Tucker and I spent with Steve at Homecoming, you would think that I would remember more of what is going on with him. I had some notes, but they are lost.
He is still in marine insurance, and is heading to England for the next three or four years. I don't like to say too much about other people's jobs because I don't understand all that sort of stuff. Steve will have quite a wide- ranging responsibility over there though. Hopefully he can fill us in.
The three of us were surprised and delighted to find Fred Smith out on the football field, coaching the team once again. We stood on the sidelines, and I remarked that if "I look through the wrong part of my lenses, that it sure looks like Fred Smith out on the field..." We were in such disbelief that it took quite a while to believe what we were seeing. It was good to see him again, and to say "hello".
Here is a picture that my wife took of Steve, his daughter Lauren, Jay, and me:
Best Regards,
