August 21, 2015:

Ho-Hum, another reunion, another nice chat with Liz. We found lots of stuff to talk about, and she laughed readily and heartily. All the famly things in the previous posts seem to have flowed smoothly into the present time. They are both well- retired; She from nurse- practitioner and her husband Bob from (39 years?!) of teaching. Her big news was that they just now have their first grandchild, a baby girl named Kate, in Oregon. So far away for a new Gramma.

Liz has had an interesting journey, and I hope she can share it at our "last great gathering" this October!

September 2, 2005:

I called Liz this evening to remind her of the reunion. She was pretty much tied to her husband's schedule, and couldn't attend. We had quite a long conversation anyway... In fact, Liz had a reunion's worth of "small talk" to offer.

Her oldest son is still in the Navy and will be back from Bahrain soon. He hopes to go into the foreign service when his commitment is done. Her youngest son is now doing post- doctoral work at the U of Colorado in Boulder. Her husband Bob completed his sabattical and is now a math teacher, and Liz quit her job as a RNP this spring... She doesn't know when she will return to work, or what she might do.

Frankly, she seemed to be toying with the idea of returning to work just as a cat might cuff up a mouse. She talked freely about retirement and travel.

I was interested in the story she told of taking a six- month trip with Bob and their young kids in "an old RV" in 1985. They pretty much traveled the perimeter of the USA, zig- zagging accross the Canadian border westbound, and returning along the southern route. Most people only dream of doing something like that, yet she seemed to tell the story with a shrug of her shoulders.

February 18, 2003:

I had a nice conversation with Liz on the blizzard night. I hope that this winter doesn't play out so poorly that I should need to specify which blizzard. Anyway, Liz's life seems to have moved along as she planned so many years ago. From Friends, she went to Skidmore for nursing, and went back to school for a masters degree, received in 1996. She is now a nurse- practitioner at a doctor's office in Springfield Massachusetts.

Her husband has been a french teacher for more than 30 years, but is presently on a sabbatical to become a mathematics teacher. Liz grumbled that they could have taken his sabbatical at some cutsey place on the Riviera.

They have two kids who aren't kids anymore; the oldest is 29 and is still in the Navy, having graduated from the Naval Academy. The youngest is 26, and is properly employed while he works on a PHD in the sciences in Austin, Texas.

Liz enjoys her work, and her husband enjoys his work, so there are no imminent retirement plans.
